Oregon Daughters are proud to own and maintain two museum complexes which celebrate and preserve our state's history,
In St. Paul, OR. adjacent to Champoeg State Park, is Newell Pioneer Village, which includes the Robert Newell House, Pioneer Mother’s Memorial Cabin, Butteville Schoolhouse with Teacherage, and Butteville Jail.
On the Columbia River in Columbia City is Caples House Museum Complex consisting of Dr. Charles Caples House, Children's Museum, Tool Shed/Laundry and event venues Knapp Memorial Center and The Cottage..
A goal to ensure long-term financial support for these treasures was implemented by several endowment funds. In addition, fundraising for both complexes includes venue rental for weddings and other events, donations and community gatherings.
Tualatin Chapter Daughters have adopted the museums as a primary focus of our work in the community. Our participation includes fundraising events, acting as docents to visiting school children, providing yard and garden upkeep to the beautiful grounds at Champoeg, and serving on various museum committees.
The Oregon DAR Museums are open to the public. A visit to these historical sites is well worth the time for any age visitor.
